December at Mums In Need

Launching Our Crowdfunder and Moving Premises

By Darcy Fowler. 31st December 2021

December has been a busy month at MIN with the launch of our Crowdfunder. We are aiming to raise £18,630 to fund an Operations Manager, Bookkeeper and Marketing Media Lead for 6 months to support our vulnerable mums in need. We are now extremely close to meeting 25% of our target, if you would like to donate the link is here: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/mumsinneed

We appreciate all donations, big and small, however if you are unable to donate please also consider sharing the link with friends, family and colleagues. Please also note that donations are being matched up to the value of £250 by the National Emergencies Trust Local Action Fund, and there are now 24 days remaining to donate. Thank you so much to all who have already donated!

Our mission to confront coercive control is as important as ever, with the 29th December marking 6 years since Coercive Control became a criminal  offence in the UK. Despite it now being recognised by the justice system, Women’s Aid are still urging police forces and public services to be effectively trained on coercive control to better understand coercive control as a form of violence against women and girls.

This month also saw us move premises. We said goodbye to our office at city taxis and want to take the opportunity to say a massive thank you to City Taxis for having us as their incubator charity for the past year. We are incredibly grateful for all the support they have shown us. We also want to say a big thank you to Amazon, who helped us with the move by kindly providing us with a van and two men who were fantastic movers!

Our CEO Laura, Caseworker Zara and one of our Min’s presented a pitch to Sky Betting to be their Charity Partner of the Year for 2022. Unfortunately we came second by 2 votes, however we feel incredibly lucky and proud to have even been considered and to get so close against some national charities.

We also ran our monthly 100 club, with a big thanks to our sponsors for this month, bhp accountants. If you would like to join our 100 club please email enquiries@mumsinneed.com for more information and to register.

Finally, we want to say thank you to Beth and Seth, 2 wonderful medical students who have been on placement at Mums In Need for the past month. They have done some amazing work for Mums In Need during this time and have been promoting MIN – it was a pleasure working with them both and we are very grateful for all their help!

We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you a happy new year! Thank you so much to our staff, volunteers and supporters for all your help this year - we wouldn’t be able to do what we do without you. Our doors will be open again on the 5th January at our new premises.
