Mums In Need (MIN) provides emotional guidance and practical support to mums in Sheffield and the surrounding areas who are affected by post-separation abuse and coercive control. The support we offer includes 1:1 Caseworker support (online), counselling, wellbeing sessions, legal advice, and peer support.
Due to recent staff changes, MIN is seeking additional casework support in the form of a part-time Caseworker. The successful candidate will work as part of a small, friendly team on a part-time basis of 25.5 hours per week across four days (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9am-3.30pm and Friday 9am-3pm). They will handle a caseload of service users seeking support, and will make a vital contribution to the development of MIN’s work. The expected start date for this role is Tuesday 2nd June 2026.
This role is remote-first and will be majority working from home, with Sheffield-based meetups one day per month to collaborate with colleagues in person. Please note that extra in-person days may be required during the initial induction/training period.
Please note that this role is fixed term for 6 months in the first instance, with potential to become longer term, subject to funding. The salary for this role is £29,250 pro rata / £19,890 per year actual salary (£1,657.50 pm/£15ph) for a 25.5 hour week.
The successful candidate will work in conjunction with another Caseworker and our CEO, and will undertake tasks to maintain and ensure the smooth running of the MIN caseload, including but not limited to:
Managing your own caseload consisting of both existing and new Mins (service users).
Completing a full consultation with new Mins and using the information to create a bespoke support plan to ensure that each Min receives the appropriate service in line with their needs.
Ensuring existing Mins’ plans are still fit for purpose, amending if necessary.
Identifying and assessing any potential risks.
Providing emotional and practical support and information to Mins including in relation to legal options, housing, health and finance.
Ensuring that cases are handed over if/when necessary and closed at the most appropriate time in terms of risk management and making best use of service resources.
Respecting and valuing the diversity of the community in which MIN works, and recognising the needs and concerns of a diverse range of Mins ensuring the service is accessible to all.
We are ideally looking for someone who can offer the following:
Educated to at least Level 3 standard (A levels or equivalent) plus GCSE Maths and English at grades A-C/4-9 (or equivalent or higher).
Substantial and demonstrable experience (paid/voluntary) of managing a caseload and supporting vulnerable people, ideally but not necessarily in the voluntary/charitable sector.
An understanding of the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children.
Knowledge and experience of the IT systems and procedures that underpin a busy office, such as Google Workspace and CMS systems.
Understanding of the main principles of data protection/GDPR, safeguarding, discretion and confidentiality, and their importance within the domestic abuse sector.
Able and willing to work remotely, preferably with a dedicated private workspace at home.
Excellent communication skills, with a sense of compassion, empathy and understanding.
Ability to build relationships with service users, colleagues and external stakeholders.
Excellent organisation, planning and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise own workload independently when working remotely.
A quick learner who is willing to undergo training on the systems MIN use, along with other training to improve their skills and knowledge in the area of domestic abuse.
