Mums In Need (MIN) is a Sheffield based charity that supports mums who are experiencing post-separation domestic violence.
We provide our Mins (mums) with support right from the start of their referral and will continue to support them for as long as they need us. We provide them with practical support, and offer an array of tailored services that are designed to improve emotional and physical wellbeing.
To be eligible for support from us, you must:
Live in the Sheffield or surrounding areas
Have left an abusive relationship
Share children with the perpetrator
The Support You Can Access Through Mums In Need
Every mum referred to Mums In Need is assigned a dedicated 1:1 Caseworker who provides consistent, personalised support. Your Caseworker will guide you through a range of practical and wellbeing services, including:
One-to-one counselling with trauma-informed professionals
Peer support groups and safe spaces to connect with others who understand your journey
Legal signposting
Group sessions focused on emotional resilience and recovery
These activities nurture both your mental and physical health, offering a safe space for healing, connection, and rebuilding your confidence.
Is this The Right Service for Me?
This support may be right for you if you
Feel intimidated, controlled, or manipulated by an ex-partner, even after separation.
Experience high-conflict or overwhelming communication, often disguised as “parenting disagreements”.
Want help identifying, documenting, and raising child safeguarding concerns.
Need support planning what to say, how to respond, and how to manage ongoing contact.
Are navigating family court and need both emotional support and practical guidance.
Are looking for calm, structured support alongside tools to stay organised, informed, and protected.
If you want steady, knowledgeable support from someone in your corner, this is likely a good fit.
We Are Not the Right Service If You Need
Specialist trauma therapy or clinical mental health treatment.
Legal advice, court representation, or help with legal fees.
Financial support.
Formal assessments or court reports.
Crisis or emergency safeguarding intervention.
In these situations, a therapist, solicitor, or statutory service would be more appropriate. We can, however, help signpost you to the right support where possible.
