On 14th June 2025, Mums In Need hosted an in-person coffee morning for the mums we support and their children, held at Wagamama Centertainment in Sheffield. These events are about more than just coffee, they create a safe, supportive, and inclusive space where women affected by post-separation abuse can come together, relax, and connect with others who understand their journey.
Thanks to the generous support of Wagamama, attendees enjoyed complimentary pastries, drinks, and a welcoming environment designed to foster community, empathy, and peer connection. These moments are especially important for women recovering from coercive control, emotional abuse, and the long-term impact of difficult relationships.
The atmosphere during the morning was filled with warmth, kindness, and meaningful conversations, new friendships were formed, and many mums shared how valuable it was to feel seen, heard, and supported. Events like these are a powerful reminder of how essential community-based support is for mental wellbeing and long-term healing.
We are incredibly grateful to our fantastic partners at Wagamama, who kindly host these coffee mornings every three months, providing both their space and hospitality to help us deliver these much-needed gatherings. Their ongoing support allows us to create positive, family-friendly experiences that truly make a difference for the women and children in our care.
Below, you'll see a photo of our CEO Laura Riley with her son and frequent volunteer Louis, alongside Amy, the wonderful Wagamama Manager who helps make these events possible.
(Please note: To protect the privacy of the mums and children we support, we do not share their photos.)
A big thank you to everyone who helped make this coffee morning so special. We’re already looking forward to the next one!
