On 15th March 2025, Mums In Need had the incredible opportunity to engage with the local community at Rotherham United Football Club, spending the afternoon raising awareness about our vital mission to support mums experiencing post-separation abuse. This event was an amazing chance to connect with fans and community members who share our commitment to making a difference for women and families affected by domestic abuse and coercive control.
We were honoured to be positioned alongside the fantastic local charity, Shiloh Rotherham, allowing us to learn more about their impactful work supporting vulnerable people across the region. Throughout the day, we had meaningful conversations with supporters, shared information about the long-term, trauma-informed support we provide, and highlighted the challenges faced by women recovering from coercive control and emotional abuse after separation.
One of the day’s standout moments was meeting Zak Jules, a Rotherham United player, who showed genuine enthusiasm for the work Mums In Need is doing to empower women on their journey to safety and independence.
We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to connect with the community, increase awareness of post-separation domestic abuse and coercive control, and showcase the comprehensive support services Mums In Need offers to mums rebuilding their lives.
A huge thank you to our dedicated team members—Laura Riley (CEO), Johleen Wakefield (Volunteer), Louis (Volunteer), Eric (Volunteer), and Miranda (Ambassador)—whose passion and support made this event such a success.
