On 16th June 2025, our CEO Laura Riley had the honour of speaking at the Crosspool Women’s Institute (WI) to share the vital work we do at Mums In Need, as a UK charity supporting women experiencing post-separation abuse.
The event provided a meaningful opportunity to raise awareness about the hidden and ongoing challenges many women face after leaving abusive relationships, including coercive control, emotional abuse, and the lack of long-term support available.
Laura had a fantastic time connecting with members of the Crosspool WI, discussing the importance of personalised, trauma-informed care and how our work empowers women to rebuild their lives with confidence and independence.
By highlighting the real-life impact of MIN’s one-to-one services, including counselling, legal signposting, and emotional support, Laura helped shine a light on an often overlooked aspect of domestic abuse and coercive control recovery.
We are incredibly grateful to the Crosspool WI for their warm welcome, enthusiasm, and generosity. The group kindly organised a bucket collection, raising an impressive £144.77, enough to fund one-to-one trauma-informed counselling sessions for two mums who are beginning their journey to healing and recovery.
Thank you to everyone at the Crosspool Women’s Institute for helping us amplify our mission, raise awareness of post-separation abuse and coercive control, and support more women in need across South Yorkshire and beyond.
