We're delighted to share that our Ambassador, Josephine, joined Paulette Edwards on BBC Radio Sheffield on 16 June to discuss the work of Mums In Need and the launch of our powerful new short film, VOICES.
During the interview, Josephine courageously shared her personal journey of recovering from post-separation abuse and how the specialist support she received from Mums In Need helped her rebuild her confidence, regain her independence, and move forward with her life. Her experience highlights the vital role that dedicated support services play in helping mothers overcome the long-term effects of coercive control and domestic abuse after separation.
Josephine also spoke about the launch of VOICES, a powerful new short film inspired by the real-life experiences of six mothers supported by Mums In Need and portrayed by three actors.
VOICES shines a light on the often-hidden reality of post-separation abuse, exposing the tactics, behaviours, and patterns of coercive control that can continue long after a relationship has ended. Through authentic survivor experiences, the film raises awareness of the challenges many mothers face within post-separation family dynamics and encourages greater understanding of this frequently misunderstood form of abuse.
The film forms part of Mums In Need's ongoing mission to raise awareness of post-separation abuse, support mothers and children affected by coercive control, and drive positive change for families experiencing abuse after separation.
