On 29th May 2025, our incredible Ambassadors Demelza and Josephine joined BBC Radio Sheffield for a powerful live conversation with author and founder of The Writers Workshop, Beverley Ward, hosted by Paulette Edwards. The discussion focused on the healing power of writing, personal storytelling, and the urgent need for visibility around coercive control and post-separation abuse.
This moving conversation marked the official launch of the Write to Be Heard project, a new initiative delivered in partnership with Mums In Need, supporting women recovering from emotional and psychological abuse after leaving an abusive relationship.
The Write to Be Heard project will offer a series of therapeutic writing workshops for women with lived experience of post-separation abuse. These sessions will provide a safe, creative space for mums to process their experiences, build confidence, and contribute to a published anthology of survivor writing.
This powerful book will help raise awareness of coercive control, challenge stigma, and amplify the often-overlooked voices of women navigating life after domestic abuse and coercive control. It will also serve as a critical fundraising tool, with proceeds going directly toward supporting Mums In Need’s trauma-informed services, including counselling, legal advocacy, and peer support.
